Bob the Bird Whisperer

 My dad was out trimming his trees, and noticed he accidentally cut down a branch with a hummingbird nest. He was so devastated. He LOVES hummingbirds. I made the joke that he should duck tape it back up. He took my suggestion seriously and literally duck tapped the branch back onto the tree!

It was a tiny nest!

 My mom wanted to look in the nest a few days later and noticed 1 little tic tac sized egg inside the nest, and found another one on the ground. She picked it up and put it inside the nest with the other one.  Even though he had cut the branch down, the mother bird still came back and laid her eggs inside the duck taped branch! My dad was SO excited.One of the eggs

 My dad turned into a proud bird dad. He even bought a camera he mounted on top of the nest so he could check on the eggs without bugging the mom or the eggs!

One egg finally started hatching, and a baby hummingbird is one strange looking animal! We watched the baby grow from the camera.

 And just like that the nest was empty again! The 2nd egg never hatched. We think it might have been too cold on the ground! But the duck taped branch held up through wind and rain!
